11th-13th century, the period of conversion to Christianity. Old traditions, beliefs, and superstitions were blended with Christianity during the conversion of Vikings to Christianity. The form is based on the Viking hearts but made symmetrical, in fact, a cross, with nubs at the quarter points describing a saltire or St. Andrews cross. A direct adaptation of the Viking heart to the newly embraced Christianity symbols. About 1 1/8” (1.10”) width with double borders. It is professionally refurbished with the pure silver surface restored, on an 18” Sterling silver neck chain for modern wear. Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity. Notably, the conversion of Vikings came about at the time of the Crusades and Viking warriors fought valiantly and successfully in the First Crusade.
